Temperate climate zones are characterized by a mean temperature that is above -3°C but below 18°C during the coldest month. In these regions, people most preferably choose to install ducted heating or central heating in the furnace room or basement in their house, or maintenance room in large buildings.
Apart from generating heat, the ducted heating system also comes with ventilation & air conditioning system. The heat generated is distributed by forced air through ducts. One of the most common methods of heat generation involves the combustion of fossil fuel or natural gas.
The following are some of the factors to be considered while determining the ducted gas heating cost.
1. Size of the heating system appliance and its output:
The capabilities and limits of the heating appliance have to be checked. A proper-sized heating system is quite essential for the comfort of people and economically too. If a smaller size is opted for, then the required amount of heat will not be distributed as per the requirement whereas the larger size will result in more than productive. The output depends on the size of the heating system. The running cost will also increase accordingly in smaller size heating appliances. The heating appliance should be chosen as per the requirement of the house or buildings so that it is within the economy.
2. Duct System:
While installing the ducted heating system, the duct should be installed properly so that the heat generated can be distributed to the rooms allocated. The joints and connection through the passage should be elaborate enough, otherwise, the air can escape through the duct system. If there is poor insulation in the ducting system, then there will be more of heat loss in the system. The insulation resistance depends on the type of heating system being installed. These points are to be checked thoroughly or else it can affect the whole ducted gas heating cost.
3. Cost of the ducted gas heating system:
If the ducting heaters are of 5 stars rating then the energy consumption is less and can be zoned to more rooms whereas, in the less rated heaters, the energy consumption is more and limited to rooms. The heaters will generate the heat as per their size and they generally assist in determining the actual energy consumption.
4. The quantity of fossil fuel or natural gas:
The quantity of fossil fuel or natural gas that will be required for generating heat through the ducted heating system is determined based on the size of the heating system. If we opt for smaller size then lesser fossil fuel will be utilized and vice versa.
5. Heat loss:
Heat loss depends on various factors like ceiling insulation, floor carpeting, and window cover. When the rooms do not have proper ceiling insulation, the escape of heat will result in heat loss. The larger windows will allow the heat to pass and certainly, the room will lose a significant amount of heat. The carpet covered floors help to sustain the heat as compared to tiles. Before installing the heating system, it is advisable to consult a qualified person about all the features.
The ducted heating system has become an essential element of the housing system. Even builders now incorporate this feature in-house planning while selling house properties. Nowadays the heating system is also available with air conditioning as well as ventilation features. As a general rule, always consult a professional before having it installed.
